Izumo Hasegawa had an impressive outing today. He hurled the Salt Lake Bees to a 8-0 shutout victory over the Bowie Bay Sox, yielding 5 hits with 12 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," the Bowie skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."
This season to date, Hasegawa has fashioned a 11-6 mark and 3.19 ERA in 161 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .252 against him and he has logged 155 strikeouts. |
 | Thursday, July 2nd, 2009: James Petrovich Hurt, Out of Action
Portland fans held their breath as James Petrovich left yesterday's Phillies-Sea Dogs contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 24-year-old reliever had suffered a strained back muscle while throwing a pitch. It's estimated that he will be out 1-2 weeks.
Running the numbers on Petrovich for the year, he has made 7 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 0-0 won-lost mark with a 5.40 ERA. In pitching 16.2 innings, he has totaled 12 strikeouts and 3 walks. |
| Thursday, July 2nd, 2009: Memphis Hopeless Against Rodriguez
Salt Lake hurler Fernando Rodriguez was at his best as he whitewashed the Memphis RedBirds 6-0 today.
"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Memphis manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."
Rodriguez fired a 4-hitter and totaled 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout performance.
In 2009 Rodriguez has a 7-4 record with a 3.69 ERA. |
