American Baseball 05-13-2008 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Monday, May 12th, 2008: Myers Gets 5 Hits Sacramento first baseman William Myers really lit up the Norfolk Tides with a 5-hit barrage today at Tentacles Ballpark -- a performance that sparked the River Cats to a 13-3 triumph.
He shrugged off the performance after the game and said, "Sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes."
W. Myers doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off B. Fike in the 8th.
Presently Myers is batting .277 and has collected 5 home runs, 31 RBIs, .365 OBP and scored 21 runs. |  | Monday, May 12th, 2008: RedHawks Czajkowski Smacks 5 Hits! Oklahoma shortstop Maurice Czajkowski could do no wrong in today's 7-2 win over the Isotopes as he collected 5 hits.
"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor...he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Isotopes said to the press corps after the game.
Czajkowski agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
M. Czajkowski singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off P. Wills in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off R. Betancourt in the 8th.
This year Czajkowski is batting .364 with 56 hits, 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, 13 walks, .413 OBP and has scored 23 runs. |  | Monday, May 12th, 2008: Great Stroke! Duke Gets 5 Hits! It was high-5 day at Shearwaters Ballpark, at least for Erik Duke of the Tacoma Rainiers. He got a lot of high-5's from his teammates for his outstanding hitting against the Indianapolis Indians. Duke smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on a his record-setting day, leading his club to a 10-7 win.
His manager said, "Erik was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him."
In the other dugout the opposing manager told SION beat writers, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine."
E. Duke flied out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
